The Civic Type R goes into 2025 with only one difference, a price increase, which probably will not deter anyone from getting a 315-horsepower sporty model.

The 2025 Honda Civic Type R is a four-door hatchback that comes in one Base trim only. It has the same engine as last year's model which makes 315-horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, mated to a crisp 6-speed manual transmission with rev-matching technology, a 4-mode Drive system that changes the steering, throttle, suspension and transmission according to the mode selected, a Honda Data logger system, and 4-wheel Brembo disk brakes all around. Handling is supported by a dual-axis strut sport suspension with adaptive dampers which helps keep the wheel planted on the ground, and a rear wing for more downforce. Standard 19-inch alloy wheels come wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S performance tires.

Interior features as well as tech options include uniquely designed Sport bucket front seats with a red/Black simulated suede with red stitching, power windows with auto up/down for driver and passenger, LED headlamps and LED taillamps, and dual zone automatic climate control.

A 9-inch touchscreen will continue to come standard, along with a 10.2-inch fully digital and configurable instrument cluster. A Bose premium sound system with 12-speakers and a subwoofer also comes standard, along with a Honda satellite linked navigation system with voice recognition, wireless apple CarPlay/Android auto, satellite radio, 2 USB ports, wireless device charging, and you also get hotspot capability.

Important safety features include driver and passenger front airbags, knee airbags, and front side airbags, a rearview camera, active lane departure warning, forward collision mitigation, traffic sign recognition, blind spot warning, rear collision warning, front pedestrian detection, and auto hi-beam system.

The Type R is in a competitive segment with rivals such as Volkswagen Golf R, Hyundai Elantra N, and the Toyota Corolla GR. All of them make for an engaging and thrilling experience, they all sport more conservative engines that still put out a lot of power and they are still fuel efficient. Where the Civic Type R really shines is in the performance department, being able to put out 315 horsepower at 6500 RPM and 310 pound-feet of torque out of a turbocharged 2.0L engine, with Brembo brakes, really amping up the thrill factor. Furthermore, Honda has still managed to balance all the other factors that seem to make a compact car great like adding a sporty interior with red accents, aluminum accents on the pedals and gear shifter, and a good price point.
